I also appreciate your interest in getting replies.

My only gripe with the bridge is that I may see fragments of conversation that I can't reliably follow, but I guess that's not a big deal.

It seems that most of us just want to have interesting conversation wherever we can find it. Ping.fm is one way and a bridge between services is another.

I am not going to be "that guy" telling people the rules for the tools. Although, I will definitely continue to make strong suggestions on occasion :)

Rahsheens last blog post..Are You Financially Fit? I listen to both Twitter and Identi.ca, both almost as much as the other. I prefer to post on Identi.ca though because I like the technology better. I want my listeners to know the services I'm broadcasting from so I prefix my posts with "identi.ca:" and would do the same with Twitter if it allowed me to. The thing is, I'm not just posting out to both these services at the same time though - I'm listening to all my followers on both services, and I do that passionately. My hope is to initiate discussion on both networks so long as I have followers on both, not just one. I'll still post to one or the other when it's appropriate though.

Re: Cross-Posting Etiquette: A Few Ways To Stay Connected

Really great post; makes sense. Any successful person knows that you have to listen more than you talk or you won't learn anything new. You won't ever have anything to contribute because you're not taking anything in.

I definitely appreciate your comment, Monica :)

Re: Cross-Posting Etiquette: A Few Ways To Stay Connected

I've had a blog now since 2005. I have JUST now started going into the realm of Social Networking - Twitter, MySpace (blech), Delicious, Technorati (wait, I've had that forever), MyBlogLog, FaceBook........ for me, it's to meet others and to see my *world* in a different way.

However, all of this stuff makes me feel like I'm losing the *listening* part as you said.

I enjoy folks and if my "drops" "tweets" etc. are low 'cause I actually post comments... then, oh well. :)

Thanks for the post!!

Monica

Monicas last blog post..What Happens When You Don't Follow The Crowd

Re: Cross-Posting Etiquette: A Few Ways To Stay Connected

Awesome, thanks for the tip, Bruce. I used to use Pidgin in Linux, now I use it in XP, but I don't think it does half what you just listed.

Thanks, Michael! I really appreciate your appreciation :)

Re: Cross-Posting Etiquette: A Few Ways To Stay Connected

I just keep coming back to your blog, really amazing layout. You can easily selectively send a dent, tweet ..... to any one or a set of these services.

Re: Cross-Posting Etiquette: A Few Ways To Stay Connected

"doesn’t mean everything is a nail"
Brilliant.
